Social Campaign
Encouraging young men to avoid the Mano-Sphere is a difficult task for anyone, especially with it’s rising popularity since the late 2010’s and it’s habit to infect social media with hateful rhetoric. Deflate The Mano-Sphere is a campaign designed to encourage young men to educate themselves on these topics before they are influenced by Mano-Sphere content creators and negative role models.

  • Historical analysis:

Though Mano-Sphere terminology and ideology are gaining large amounts of popularity now, these ideas are not new. understanding the ways in which these ideas are embedded in our cultural identity can better help us determine appropriate strategies for deterring young men from adopting these ideas.

    Medium Strategy:

In order to combat the Mano-Sphere and it’s close ties to Anti-Intellectualism, the information used to inform decisions surrounding the campaign need to have accessibility in mind, both monetary and physically.

    Convincing:

The campaign must also be convincing for the target demographic, something that they listen to and utilize in their every day life. Understanding what gets this group intrigued, what language turns them away, how to keep their attention, what information does this group retain, then doing all of those things without diluting the message.

Rebrand
The Portland State University Design Club is a group that promotes community within the students of the graphic design major. The problem that we had to solve with a rebrand was that not enough people knew about the club, and less people took advantage of the opportunities that the club could offer them. This rebrand is more than the visual aspects of the brand system, rethinking the way that Design Club exists, it’s goals, it’s culture, and how events are ran were all changed. Since my appointment of leadership in winter 2025 the club has held 10x as many events as the year prior, and the club has worked with community collaborators to educate more students than ever before.
